Surah Al-ʻAlaq

Surah Al-ʻAlaq

In The Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), (Quran Surah Al-ʻAlaq 96:1)

Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). (Quran Surah Al-ʻAlaq 96:2)

Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, (Quran Surah Al-ʻAlaq 96:3)

Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. (Quran 96:4)

Has taught man that which he knew not. (Quran 96:5)

Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). (Quran 96:6)

Because he considers himself self-sufficient. (Quran 96:7)

Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. (Quran 96:8)

Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, (Quran 96:9)

A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? (Quran 96:10)

Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? (Quran 96:11)

Or enjoins piety? (Quran 96:12)

Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? (Quran 96:13)

Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? (Quran 96:14)

Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, (Quran 96:15)

A lying, sinful forelock! (Quran 96:16)

Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), (Quran 96:17)

We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! (Quran 96:18)

Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! (Quran 96:19)
