Sword of Allah: Khalid ibn al-Walid ibn al-Mughira al-Makhzumi
Khalid ibn al-Walid ibn al-Mughira al-Makhzumi (Arabic: خالد بن الوليد بن المغيرة المخزومي) was a 7th-century Arab military commander who served as a general under the Islamic prophet Muhammad and his successors. He was known for his military genius and his many victories, earning him the title “The Sword of Allah.” Early life and conversion to Islam Khalid was born in Mecca in 592 CE to a wealthy and influential family of the Quraysh tribe.
