Sword of Allah: Khalid ibn al-Walid ibn al-Mughira al-Makhzumi

  Khalid ibn al-Walid ibn al-Mughira al-Makhzumi  (Arabic: خالد بن الوليد بن المغيرة المخزومي) was a 7th-century Arab military commander who served as a general under the Islamic prophet Muhammad and his successors. He was known for his military genius and his many victories, earning him the title “The Sword of Allah.” Early life and conversion to Islam Khalid  was born in Mecca in 592 CE to a wealthy and influential family of the Quraysh tribe. He was a skilled warrior and horseman from an early age. He led the Meccan army against Muhammad during the early years of Islam, but he converted to Islam in 630 CE after the Battle of Mecca. Military career After his conversion,  Khalid  became one of Muhammad’s most trusted generals. He led Muslim forces in a series of victories, including the Battle of Uhud, the Battle of the Trench, and the Battle of Khaybar.
