Explaining Sahih Muslim Book 1 - Hadith 405-415   Chapter 87: The supplication of the Prophet (saws) for his ummah and his weeping out of compassion for them .   'Abdullah b. Amr b. al-'As reported:   Verily the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited the words of Allah, the Great and Glorious, that Ibrahim uttered. My Lord! lo! they have led many of mankind astray:" But whoso followeth me, he verily is of me" (al-Qur'an, xiv. 35) and Jesus (peace be upon him) said:" If thou punisheth them, lo! they are Thy slaves, and if Thou forgiveth them-verily Thou art the Mighty, the Wise" (al-Qur'an, v 117). Then he raised his hands and said: O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah, and wept; so Allah the High and the Exalted said: O Gabriel, go to Muhammad (though your Lord knows it fully well) and ask him: What makes thee weep? So Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to him and asked him, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) informed him what he had said (though Allah knew it fully well). ...

In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate Ḥâ-Mĩm. ( Quran 46:1 )   The revelation of this Book is from Allah—the Almighty, All-Wise. ( Quran 46:2 )   We only created the heavens and the earth and everything in between for a purpose and an appointed term. Yet the disbelievers are turning away from what they have been warned about. ( Quran 46:3 )   Ask ˹them, O Prophet˺, “Have you considered whatever ˹idols˺ you invoke besides Allah? Show me what they have created on earth! Or do they have a share in ˹the creation of˺ the heavens? Bring me a scripture ˹revealed˺ before this ˹Quran˺ or a shred of knowledge, if what you say is true.” ( Quran 46:4 )   And who could be more astray than those who call upon others besides Allah—˹others˺ that cannot respond to them until the Day of Judgment, and are ˹even˺ unaware of their calls? ( Quran 46:5 )   And when ˹such˺ people will be gathered together, those ˹gods˺ will be their enemies...

Mercy as Allah's Divine Attribute

Ar-Rahman and Ar-Raheem:  The very essence of Allah (God) is defined by His boundless mercy. Two of His most prominent names are Ar-Rahman (The Most Gracious, The Most Beneficent) and Ar-Raheem (The Most Merciful, The Especially Kind). These names preface almost every chapter of the Quran, highlighting mercy as a foundational principle of Islam. “My mercy encompasses all things.”  ( Quran 7:156 ) This verse beautifully illustrates how Allah’s mercy extends to all of creation, without any limitations. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as an Embodiment of Mercy **”And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.” ** ( Quran 21:107 ) This verse emphasizes that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent as a manifestation of divine mercy, a guide to compassion and benevolence for all of humanity. Hadiths (Sayings of the Prophet):  Numerous hadiths describe the  Prophet’s  exemplary mercy towards friends, foes, and even animals. One fa...
